Norman Studios proudly celebrates Jacksonville’s silent film heritage: Jacksonville as “The Winter Film Capital of the World” and, even more significantly, Richard Norman’s films in which he presented African Americans in positive, non-stereotypical roles.
Join us on Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend 2025 as we applaud the contributions of Norman Studios and its African American casts to the black experience in Jacksonville and across our nation.
Exciting things are in store as we continue to celebrate the opening of phase 1 of the Norman Studios Museum, the reunification of the Studios with the City of Jacksonville’s acquisition of the set building and property, and the opening of the Rita F. Reagan Set Building.
Enjoy, as we present the world premiere of a musical setting by Dr. Nansi Carroll of James Weldon Johnson’s poem “Saint Peter Relates an Incident of the Resurrection Day.” The Ritz Chamber Players, soloists, and chorus will perform this momentous work.
The composer, members of the Reagan family, and members of the Norman Family will be with us! Learn More Here.
