The Flying Ace: Where the Story Began
On Wednesday, November 11, in conjunction with the Jacksonville Symphony’s presentation of Richard Norman’s The Flying Ace on November 14, Norman Studios will hold a community event celebrating The Flying Ace and the new score composed for the Symphony. We will explore the history, legacy and artistry behind this landmark 1926 silent film. Featuring members of the Norman Studios community, Richard Norman’s grandson and three of the composers creating the new orchestral score, the conversation will explore what makes this story still worth telling and the legacy it continues to hold and how new musical accompaniments continue to enhance its story.
The event will be held at the Rita F. Reagan Set Building, 6360 Commerce Street. Doors will open at 4 pm (with light refreshments served), and the program will begin at 5:00 pm. Admission is free. Registration is required.
You are welcome to visit the Norman Studios Silent Film Museum at 6337 Arlington Road from 1:30 pm to 4 pm. on November 11. No registration is required to view the museum exhibits, but, as noted, advance registration is required to attend the 5:00 pm program.
